“Begin each day with the hope of ending it with the bests of your steps. Plan the day ahead and ensure that the plans are worthy of ensuring your dreams are achieved.” As first year students have also entered the next phase of their career, it was time to make them aware of various investments, business and negotiation skills. So, to impact the knowledge of these crucial things, Rotaract Club of WCE Sangli has turned with an event named “Mart Kampf – Break-even or breakdown” under the Professional Development Service Avenue on August 31 and September 1, 2019.
On September 1, a crowd of nearly 90 enthusiastic students gathered. The inauguration ceremony started with the lamp lightening and worshipping Goddess Saraswati. The chief guest Mr. Narayan Marathe Sir motivated the students to learn something along with academics in his inaugural speech.
The first round of the event was held on August 31, which was pen–paper based Aptitude test, basically designed to check analytical skills, logical reasoning and general awareness of first year students. The second session of the first round was a Group Discussion on business-related topics.
Out of 90 participants, 30 students were shortlisted for the next round. The second round was related to investment, they have provided with various Companies with their stock prices. In each iteration students are provided with different news, they had to analyze those news and according to that buy or sell the shares to earn more and more profit. This round helped them to visualize how actually stock market works.
The third and last round was related to Supply Chain Management. In this round, there were 7 Factory men and 7 Middle men. Selling price for that particular unit was the sum of Production cost + charges by middle men + profit (which factory men wants). Now factory men were trying to keep total selling price as low as possible so that they will get more demand from customers which were from the organizing committee. For that Factory men and Middle men were negotiating for the amount of charges, Middle men was trying to keep it high and Factory men was trying to keep it low so that he can earn more profit and more demand to his product. According to selling price of their products demands were changed for the next iterations. This round helped them to understand how actually Supply Chain Management works.
After refreshment, Rtr. Aparna Pawar and Rtr. Saurabh Narkhede shared the dais for the prize distribution ceremony and told importance to first year students about participating in events and explaining them winning and losing is not important, important is to learn through experiences. Rtr. Samruddhi Patil professional development service director announced the winners of various rounds and finally, the winner of Mart Kampf.
At last, Rtr. Simran Dodmise, Secretary gave the vote of thanks and officially announced that the event was concluded.
