FE orientation 2018

It has been very few days since the aspiring freshers have stepped their feet into a beautiful and interesting journey of professional education. Rotaract Club of WCE Sangli has always came forward to help students to identify their guts, potential and has been enlightening the students in all aspects of professionalism. So to start with, this year’s journey commenced with FE Orientation Meet 2018.

Ambience of the Tilak Hall was totally imbued by the essence of the words: “Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success”.

The FE orientation meet started at 5:45 PM sharp with President’s address in which Rtr. Shraddha introduced the Club to the FE’s. She shared her thoughts regarding skills that they can get in Rotaract and also motivated them to take part in productive activities. At last she handed over the stage to Club Service Director Rtr. Aniket.

The theme of the first game was Treasure Hunt under which the sub session was WHO AM I? As the name suggests, the game was to recognize the voices of famous personalities around the world (like Barak Obama, Steve Jobs, Smriti Irani, Sundar Pichai).

Another sub-session was of some brainstorming and tricky puzzles. Students were supposed to identify the answers and had to fill in the crossword. Furthermore, they were introduced to the Selfie Challenge in which they had to take a group selfie with the given emotion. As the result of two tasks, the teams found the final treasure as their team names. The team names were as follows:

• ŚRODA TREASURE- It is a hoard of silver and gold coins, plus gold jewellery and some precious stones

• STAFFORDSHIRE HOARD- The Staffordshire Hoard is the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork yet found.

• HOXNE HOARD- The Hoxne Hoard is the largest hoard of late Roman silver and gold discovered in Britain, and the largest collection of gold and silver coins of the fourth and fifth century.

• BACTRIAN GOLD – The lost treasure that represents Afghanistan’s cultural heritage

Following that Rtr. Samruddhi explained the Club Service Avenue under which the above activity was taken.

The excited FE’s were thrilled by the Public Speech on Kargil War. Rtr. Vaibhav along with Rtr. Sayali and Rtr. Omkar explained the root causes of controversies over Kashmir region. They also threw light on annexation of Junagadh and Hyderabad into India and role of Sardar Vallabhai Patel in it. The students got acquainted to the current situation in Kashmir Valley region. At the concluding note Rtr. Vaibhav gave the glimpse of International Service Avenue to the first year students.

The next activity was ECHELON, the list of posts and tree diagram of different professions were provided to students and they were asked to fill the tree diagram according to hierarchy. The students got to know about the hierarchy in WCE Sangli, Industries and in Army. At the end of the session, Rtr. Shubham told about the Professional Development Service Avenue.

The last activity was ENACTO. Each team was provided with a social issue where they were suppose represent the act on that. Many of the students showed their creative and innovative approach to solve the problem given to them. Students who  acted were successful in giving the articulate and good message for the betterment of the society. At the end of this activity, Rtr. Akshay explained the Community Service Avenue to the students.

Rtr. Aniket took the stage for further proceeding in which he told the role of soft skills in professional life. The video about the introduction of the club won the hearts of everyone and set up the excitement level to a new height.

At last, the President explained that how Rotaract helps an individual in overall development and the meeting ended with the order of President.
